Mellifluous

I can hardly believe it’s time for another blog circle post it seems to have come around in a heartbeat probably because of it being April, it’s been a busy month with Easter break and all the new and exciting things happening around the garden here at my place, so it has really sat in the back of my mind. It was certainly one to think about this month though, Mellifluous, which means a sound that is sweet and smooth, pleasing to hear.

The first thing that sprang to my mind when I read it was the amazing chorus of birdsong that greets me every morning and throughout the day but as April was a crazy month and I am a total novice at wildlife photography I haven’t managed to even attempt capturing birds. I mean how do you capture that sound through a picture anyway? That doesn’t mean I won’t try, just that it is something I will need to try another day.

There are plenty of other sweet sounds around here though, along with some not so sweet sounds, like the not so tender interactions between my 3 and 7 year olds fighting over which part of the sofa they ‘own’. However, hearing young children playing make believe games really is a sound I cherish and if you take the time to really listen to what they’re saying you can learn something about how they view the world and even get a glimpse into their own little world.

Hopefully I’ll get to try those wild bird shots and add them here later this month, but meanwhile be sure to follow the blog circle to the beautiful work of Linda Hooper, her work never fails to change my perspective and try something new. Enjoy!
